George Kittle could be on the verge of an incredible Week 1 comeback
George Kittle could be on the verge of an incredible Week 1 comeback. Less than eight months after tearing his Achilles, the 49ers star tight end is traveling across the world with a chance to play in the season opener. Kittle tore his Achilles during San Francisco's playoff run in January. He has now participated in three straight practices as his rehab reaches its final stage. Kittle traveled with the 49ers to Australia for their Week 1 matchup against the Rams. San Francisco previously indicated it did not want to put Kittle through the long trip if there was not a realistic chance he could play. Making the flight does not guarantee anything, but his comeback is suddenly very real.
Corroborating: NFL Network reporting says Kittle has practiced three straight times and traveled with the team to Australia, keeping a Week 1 return realistically in play.
