Kaden Wetjen fighting for spot on Steelers' initial 53
Kaden Wetjen may be fighting for his spot on the Steelers' initial 53. Pittsburgh drafted the explosive returner in the fourth round, but his roster spot no longer looks automatic. Wetjen exploded for two catches, 79 yards and a touchdown in his preseason debut, including a 74-yard catch-and-run. He was then held without a catch against the Jets in Pittsburgh's second preseason game. Steelers insider Mark Kaboly has since described Wetjen as being on the bubble heading into the final stretch before roster cuts. His explosiveness as a receiver and returner gives Pittsburgh a reason to keep him, but the rookie still has something to prove.
Corroborating: Steelers.com lists Wetjen's 2-catch, 79-yard, 1-touchdown preseason debut. Subsequent Steelers coverage has described the fourth-round rookie as being on the roster bubble heading toward final cuts.
